“NOMADS OF THE SEA”

Among the crystal-clear waters of Southeast Asia, between Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia, live the Bajau — legendary sea nomads and guardians of a culture deeply connected with the ocean. For generations they have sailed, fished, and lived aboard traditional boats, the “LEPA,” following the rhythm of tides and seasons.

What makes the Bajau unique in the world is also their extraordinary physical adaptation to underwater life. Modern studies have identified within this population a particular genetic trait associated with an enlarged spleen, a feature that allows for greater oxygen reserves during dives. Thanks to this predisposition and training that begins in early childhood, the Bajau are capable of exceptional breath-hold immersions, in extraordinary cases reaching durations close to ten minutes.

Their cultural traditions, water-related rituals, and community celebrations reflect a deep bond with the natural world, where humanity and ocean coexist in balance and respect. The decorations, colors, and symbols of their art evoke waves, reefs, and marine creatures, telling a story of freedom and belonging.

TECNICHAL CHARACHTERISTICS

Fountain Pen: entirely handcrafted in all its complexity, it is a work composed of numerous components distinguished by materials, colors, and finishes; premium materials are hand-turned from solid bars, combined with precious metals and color palettes inspired by the defining visual elements of the Bajau people.
The clip, produced using the ancient goldsmithing technique known as “lost-wax casting,” faithfully reproduces the ornamental details of the “LEPA” house-boat, the primary dwelling of the Bajau people; the band on the pen body features traditional decorative motifs commonly found in Bajau costumes.
The special resin, created exclusively for this collection by Jonathon Brooks (Carolina Pen Company), follows the chromatic gradations of the ocean, interwoven with the cultural colors of the Bajau people.
Fixed piston filling system, manufactured in the Maiora workshops; Steel nib, size #6, available in the following writing grades: Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, Double Broad, Stub 1.1, Stub 1.5, Flex Extra Fine, and Flex Fine.

Rollerball: same features as the fountain pen; high capacity refill.
