Life Bank paper was originally made in the 1960s by Mitsubishi Paper Mills, for Mitsubishi Bank (now known as Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ). The paper needed to be strong, smooth, and usable for a variety of tasks. For example, it needed to handle writing, typing, and being passed between many people.
In the 1960s, Mitsubishi Bank needed some good paper. They needed paper that was easy to write on and could be typed on too. It needed to withstand repeated handling and stand the test of time.
The result was known as Mitsubishi Bank Paper â made by Mitsubishi Paper Mills. It was discontinued ages ago, but has been given new life in recent years, by companies such as Life Co.
Itâs interesting to note that this is the same Mitsubishi thatâs more widely known for making cars. This is why every sheet of bank paper has a characteristic watermark, âTHREE DIAMONDSâ, in reference to the logo of the Mitsubishi group.
The cover's designed with gold embossing, makes it a sophisticated object on the desk. The pad provides a nice pink blotter page, handles fountain pen ink with flawless performance. With this sheet at the top, youâll never have to worry about smudging your writing when you donât have time for it to dry.
The Bank Paper is beloved by fountain pen enthusiasts and a joy to write on with any writing instrument of choice as there are rare to no bleed-through and no feathering.Â
